IT WAS 1969. A YEAR OF TRIALS AND TRIUMPHS. OF FRESH STARTS AND FREE LOVE. OF HISTORY IN THE MAKING . . .

“Tricky Dicky” entered the White House. Miss Vicky tiptoed through the tulips and into marriage with Tiny Tim. Neil Armstrong tiptoed on the moon and into our living rooms, taking “one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”

Nearly half a million young people gathered at Yasgur’s Farm for three days of peace, music, and more, and the legendary event known as Woodstock was born. Nearly half a million anti-war protestors gathered on the common in Washington, D.C. And half a world away, nearly half a million American soldiers gathered in battle, giving their lives for their country in the rice paddies of Vietnam.

WE ARE MAKING HISTORY OF OUR OWN

Out of the headlines and closer to home, an entrepreneurial young HVAC salesman named Frank Engel was quietly taking his own first steps into history with the launch of a new wholesale distribution company. “The other wholesalers just laughed at us,” recalls Frank. “They didn’t believe we could make it happen.”

Almost half a century later, the last laugh belongs to Frank. Under his leadership, Air Purchases grew from a fledgling two-man operation into one of New England’s largest, independent full-line wholesale distributors of HVAC parts and equipment.

In 2003, after 34 years at the helm, Frank assumed the role of CEO and passed responsibility for the company’s management onto his son, Rob. It was a challenge Rob was eager and amply qualified to take on.

In 2004, responding to a rapidly evolving industry, Air Purchases took HVAC “outside the box” and became more actively involved in helping its dealers grow their businesses.

Today our  dealers have come to rely on our advanced business development, sales, marketing, and technical training and support to help them meet their need for more specialized business expertise.

“My father founded this company with a simple principle in mind—to provide quality products and service to our customers,” said Rob. “What that means has changed and expanded throughout the years, but my goal remains the same: to give our customers exactly what they need to succeed in the business of HVAC.”
